Great win on the road for the team – it marked the second victory of the season, already matching the record of wins from our inaugural season in the league. This means a lot for the team; The first win last season came in January. It speaks to the development of our players and how the experience from last season is translating into better performance.
We started the first game very solid, especially on defense, allowing us to flow in offense and find easy baskets. This quarter was without a doubt the best in executing the plan.
We surprised Bears Academy, allowing us to take an early 11-point lead at the end of the first period.
In the second quarter, we slowed down the pace, costing us a loss of 6 points in our lead. We managed to stay in front thanks to good defense, but our offense didn’t work well.
In the second half, it was the opposite – our offense improved, but our defense wasn’t good enough. Bears got closer, reducing our lead to 3 points. In the last quarter, we managed to get a 10-point lead thanks to good defenses and excellent decisions in offense. However, Academy wasn’t giving up, scoring two threes in a row and a basket that reduced the lead to 2 points. At the end of the game, both teams were missing baskets and free throws, and we ended up taking the win by 2 points.
Gustav was big for us, both on offense with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, and on defense with 2 key blocks.
Pablo led the team and read the game perfectly, making decisions that helped us win. He made 5 assists, 8 rebounds, and 8 steals. Peter was also important for the game with 14 points and 8 rebounds. At last, Jack contributed with 9 points in his first game as a starter this season.
We will meet Academy again this Sunday for the cup first round. The next home game is on November 16th when we will receive Værløse, for the second home TV game of the season.
