We had some factors that didn’t allow us to get the win in the last game. The bad start in the first quarter and the first 5 minutes of the second quarter, gave Værløse a comfortable 20 point lead.
Some of our key players did not perform well, and the game seemed too big for them. On the paper we were taller and had a rebound advantage over the visitors from Værløse, but that never translated into the game. Actually Værløse dominated the boards, with Peter Mens getting 18 rebounds.
Also worth mentioning our 24 turnovers, where around half of them came from calls from the referees, in the form of traveling, double dribbles and 5 offensive foul. With this being said, many of these calls where questionable.
On top of that, we made 29 fouls for 17 received, and Værløse attempted 31 free throws while we had only 13. Our percentage from two was also very low (many of the actions being no calls in obvious fouls). In this sense, it felt that the criteria from the officials was unbalanced.
Despite all this, we had the best performance we ever had from the three point line. We made 15 out of 27 attempts for a 55%. That allowed us to come back in the game for a short period of time in the 3rd quarter, and give our numerous fans in Sportsby hope for a tight game.
Værløse recovered the lead shortly after but we kept trying to get close, being the final score 70-78.
Again worth mentioning the amazing atmosphere. We enjoy every night in a full Sportbyen, with more than 500 fans watching and supporting the team until the end.
The next game home will be against the Danish Champions Bakken Bears, the 28th of November at 19:00.
